PhenylN-(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)carbamate

Ethyl 2-hydroxy-2-phenyl-2-(thiazol-2-yl)acetate

This short note describes the synthesis of the title compound through spontaneous aerobic oxidation of ethyl 2-phenyl-2-(thiazol-2-yl)acetate. Due to the prevalence of such functional motifs in biologically active substances, we believe the oxidation encountered highlights an important degradation pathway worthy of note.

Synthesis and reactions of C-phosphanylated thiazol-2-thiones.

The facile regioselective synthesis of the P(iii) substituted thiazol-2-thione 2 is presented. Reaction of 2 with hydrogenperoxide-urea, elemental sulfur and selenium resulted in P(v) chalcogenide thiazol-2-thiones 3-5.
